Teachers’ notes for My Time in the Garden Children's Book

My Time in the Garden is a delightful little picture book that invites children to think about life in terms of summers and seasons. The simple language and repetitive nature of the questions and answers helps children build language and conversation skills, and the beautiful drawings have a simplistic elegance to them that will delight readers both young and old. The author skillfully brings to life the different creatures in the garden and the important roles they play in the food chain in a straight-forward and factual manner that provides children with an opportunity to view life in a very interconnected way.

My Time in the Garden is best suited to children from Preschool through to Year 2. It makes an excellent read-aloud for children who have an interest in nature, life, science, and even those with burgeoning philosophical questions about life itself.

To support the use of the book in the classroom, we have created teachers’ notes that is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework.
